I agree with you that the health of the aura is vital to the health of the physical body, mind, heart, and soul. Everything works together--when one is out of wack, the others can, and often do, follow suit (that's my experience, anyway.)
I think that our bodies succumb to injury, trauma, and disease even if our spiritual selves/aura are healthy just to keep us "in check", so to speak. If we don't stay in check, we are unable to know when our bodies need spiritual nourishment, or just flat out need a break. Sometimes, for some of us, if we don't listen to our body's screams for a break/vacation from our spiritual work (yes, even spiritual people need a break), sometimes Spirit can hunker us down with a cold or something along those lines to force us to take a break. That actually happened to a friend of mine once.
Depression in itself can be caused by a lot of things, not just spiritual things, though. Sometimes, the causes of depression are medical/chemical as well, so it's always advised to go to a doctor and seek professional help in that way when you are having those types of feelings; don't just think that it's spiritually caused.
As a Reiki Master/Teacher, I do agree that energy work is a modality used to restore our bodies, but it is not used alone; it is used in conjunction with medical help, such as pain medication or depression medication, to expand on the depression part of your initial post. Healing, most times, too, dose aid in the restoration of our spiritual awareness, yes, you are correct in that. Sometimes, though, the healing just has to be done physically because our physical bodies ache, not because of anything spiritual, though. For example, if you break your leg, that has nothing to do with spirituality or your aura; it's all your physical body.
Just my opinion, anyway. I hope that at least a little bit of my two cents helped you.
